Is Deion Sanders prepared for a role in the NFL?
Deion Sanders, the head coach of Colorado, discussed the possibility of transitioning from college football to the NFL during a recent appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show.”
Sanders firmly believes that he’s not suited for the NFL due to concerns about players’ lack of passion for the game.
“No, never. I don’t think I’m cut out for the NFL,” Sanders told Patrick. “I have immense respect for the game and all it has provided me throughout the years. When I witness a player earning millions of dollars and showing no respect for the game, it deeply troubles me. I’m the kind of coach who could start a game with 53 players and come back after halftime with only 32 players. I’m excessively honest and have an insatiable desire to win. I need everyone on the team to have respect for the game. Unfortunately, money sometimes clouds that love and passion for the game.”
Sanders was also asked if he would contemplate an NFL move in 2024 if it meant coaching alongside his sons Shedeur and Shilo.
“They’re planning to come out for the NFL Draft at the same time—next year,” he responded. “They don’t intend to leave daddy this year, by the way.”
These comments quickly gained attention on social media.
Fans were surprised that Sanders disclosed Shedeur’s intentions for the 2024 NFL Draft.
“It’s rather cryptic language from him… Reading between the lines, he wants to be a Bear,” one fan suggested.

“In essence… He’ll be an NFL head coach by the start of the 2025 season,” another fan commented.
Another fan expressed, “An NFL team would be foolish to hire this individual as a head coach. What has he accomplished in his brief coaching career to deserve an NFL job?”
Colorado currently holds a 4-5 record heading into their upcoming game against Arizona this Saturday.
The Buffaloes need two more wins to qualify for a bowl game in Coach Prime’s first year.
It appears likely that someone in the NFL will present him with an enticing offer sooner or later.
