Deion Sanders expressed that he was “having fun” in his recent controversial social media engagement.
In a conversation with Thee Pregame Show, Sanders admitted that he typically refrains from responding but occasionally feels compelled, especially when it involves defending his son, Shedeur Sanders.
“I gotta do better on that and not ride with it, but I was bored,” Sanders said, via USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer. “I was bored, and I didn’t say nothing hurtful. I don’t attack people.”
Former Colorado safety Xavier Smith, who transferred to Austin Peay, voiced concerns to The Athletic about Deion Sanders “destroying guys’ confidence and belief in themselves.”
Shedeur Sanders responded, suggesting he didn’t recall Smith and remarked that he must have been “mid at best.”

When Colorado wide receiver Kaleb Mathis entered the conversation, Austin Peay defensive back Jaheim Ward highlighted Smith’s modest 38 receiving yards.
Coach Prime joined in by sharing a screenshot of Ward’s stats, humorously captioned with “Lawd Jesus.”
Sanders clarified in a recent interview that his reaction was misunderstood.
He explained, “When you posted stats, I said, ‘Lawd Jesus.’ Like dang, he really went at him. Like he really shot him.”
Sanders emphasized that his intention was not ill-natured, contrary to how it was perceived.
Responding to criticism of Shedeur by an anonymous user, Sanders confidently predicted his son’s future success, asserting he “will be a top-five pick” in the next year’s draft.
He playfully questioned the critic’s own prospects, stating, “Where yo son going? Lololol I got time today.”
Coach Prime defended his response, labeling it as “real,” and vowed to stand up for his children when necessary.
He admitted to occasionally indulging in playful banter, acknowledging, “Every once in a while, I want to play,” adding, “And then I get petty.”
Sanders attributed some online negativity to individuals seeking attention and being unable to handle criticism themselves.
He stressed that he’s accustomed to such situations throughout his life and prepares his team to navigate similar challenges.
