David Montgomery recently relocated to Detroit after signing with the Lions during the offseason.
However, there was a concerning incident involving one of his family members shortly after they moved into their new neighborhood. Police documents obtained by TMZ reveal that Montgomery’s girlfriend, Tatum Causey, allegedly had a run-in with a neighbor’s dog on June 4th.
The incident occurred when Montgomery and Causey’s pit bull mix, Lola, reportedly escaped their residence and attacked the smaller dog on the sidewalk.
Upon receiving a call, the police arrived at Montgomery’s home in Grosse Pointe Shores.
Body camera footage from the incident obtained by TMZ shows Causey explaining to the officers that she discovered the escaped dog while she was in the backyard.
The owner of the allegedly attacked dog informed the police that their pet suffered two leg fractures and required stitches. In their statement to the police, the dog’s owner noted that they heard their dog’s legs snap during the incident.
The same owners revealed that they also sustained bite wounds and lacerations while attempting to intervene. Causey has been charged with misdemeanor harboring a vicious dog. In June, she pleaded not guilty, and her next court hearing is scheduled for September.
Recently, she posted on social media, suggesting that her dog, Lola, may have passed away.
In her post, Causey expressed her love for Lola, referring to her as her “soul dog” and stating that Lola will always hold a special place in her heart.
On the professional front, Montgomery signed a 3-year, $18 million contract with the Lions this offseason. Prior to joining the Lions, he spent the first four seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears.
In the previous season, Montgomery recorded 801 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns in 16 games.
