Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams didn’t hold back in criticizing Buffalo Bills safety Taylor Rapp for his helmet-to-helmet hit during their Week 2 faceoff.
“Was it unnecessary? Absolutely, without a doubt,” remarked Adams on Wednesday, as reported by Logan Reever of 8 News Now. “But some players have their own style of play. Some individuals seem out of control, flying around without a clear purpose. I mean, they’re covering half the field on one side, then they sprint over and deliver a headshot on the other side of the field.”
Adams had to exit the Raiders’ 38-10 defeat to the Bills on Sunday due to the late hit. Although he left the game for evaluation, he didn’t enter the concussion protocol, and Rapp was penalized for unnecessary roughness.
“That kind of behavior is what keeps you off the field,” Adams continued. “It’s why you’re in there when your team is up by 25 points at the end of the game. Perhaps if that player learns how to approach the game correctly, he might see more playing time. Until then, I guess he’ll have to rely on plays like that.”

Adams, a three-time first-team All-Pro, amassed six receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown against the Bills.
In the meantime, Rapp’s performance in the game comprised just one tackle and a fumble recovery, with him being on the field for only 15% of Buffalo’s defensive snaps.
