Dallas Police are currently seeking Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver Rashee Rice in connection with a multiple-vehicle accident that took place on Saturday evening, as confirmed by sources to WFAA Dallas.
The incident occurred around 6:25 p.m. on the 6600 block of North Central Expressway, near the Lovers Lane exit.
According to the Dallas Police Department (DPD), officers responded to reports of a multi-vehicle crash. Preliminary investigations by the DPD indicated that two vehicles, a Chevrolet Corvette and a Lamborghini, were speeding in the far-left lane of the highway when both drivers lost control of their vehicles.
According to their investigation, police reported that the Lamborghini veered onto the highway’s shoulder and collided with the center-median wall divider. This collision triggered a chain reaction involving four additional vehicles, resulting in a total of six vehicles being involved in the accident.
Police stated that the occupants of both the Lamborghini and the Corvette fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, without providing insurance details or checking on the condition of other victims who may have required medical assistance.
WFAA obtained dashcam footage of the incident, which aligns with the Dallas Police Department’s description of events. The footage shows three individuals exiting the Lamborghini SUV and walking away from the vehicle after it came to a stop in the second-from-the-right lane on the highway.
According to police reports, Dallas Fire Rescue teams provided on-site treatment to two drivers for minor injuries, while two occupants from another vehicle involved in the collision were transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Sources familiar with the investigation indicated that one of the vehicles involved in the speeding incident was registered under Rashee Rice’s name. Additionally, sources suggested that the Dallas Police Department believes the Lamborghini and Corvette were engaged in street racing at the time of the accident.
As of Sunday afternoon, Dallas County jail records do not indicate that Rice has been booked. It remains unclear in what capacity police have been attempting to locate Rice.
In his rookie season with the Chiefs, Rice made an impressive mark by securing 79 catches for 938 yards, ranking him second among rookie wide receivers in both categories. Additionally, he scored seven receiving touchdowns.
Rice contributed six receptions for 39 yards during the Chiefs’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
