While New York Giants tight end Darren Waller has been contemplating his football future this offseason, he has also devoted some time to his music career.
Following his recent divorce from WNBA star Kelsey Plum, Waller released a new song and music video dedicated to their split.
The song, titled “Who Knew (Her Perspective),” features heavily auto-tuned vocals and delves into Waller and Plum’s relationship.
It includes lines such as “take your time and heal/take your time out and feel” and “thought our love was real/who knew that love could kill?”

The video, which you can watch in its entirety below, portrays an actress playing Plum and ends with a dramatic scene where she stabs Waller in the back as they embrace on a beach, symbolically killing the 31-year-old Pro Bowler.
According to TMZ, Waller explained that the song was written from “the viewpoint of a woman trying to love him.”
He said,
“I’ve struggled with intimacy in romantic relationships my whole life, and I recognize the toll it has taken on the lovers I’ve been close to. Essentially, I’m telling myself, from the damage I’ve done, that it’s imperative for me to heal the wounds in my life I’ve been avoiding by seeking relationships.”
Waller, who was limited by injuries during his first season with the Giants in 2023, is still deciding whether he wants to continue playing football.
Meanwhile, Plum is focused on leading the Las Vegas Aces to a third-straight WNBA championship.
Plum expressed her feelings about the divorce in an emotional post last month.
“I’m devastated,” she wrote. “I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go. God has given me an incredible life, and I’m truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends. One day I’ll share my story, but today is not that day. Thank you for the grace to process my pain, to forgive and move forward. Today and every day, I will continue to choose joy. Much love, KP.”
