Former race car driver Danica Patrick transitioned from the racetrack to the political arena in the months leading up to the 2024 presidential election, emerging as a vocal supporter of Republican nominee and eventual President-elect Donald Trump. Patrick became an active political commentator, traveling across the country to attend rallies, give speeches, and share her views with the public.
Her goal was to encourage others to exercise their right to vote and to support Trump’s vision for America.
Over the past few months, Patrick appeared at numerous rallies, gave interviews, and used her social media presence to spread her message.
She urged her followers to be proactive and participate in the election process, emphasizing the importance of making their voices heard. Her efforts paid off, as Trump secured his second term as President of the United States.
However, Patrick recently revealed that her involvement with the Trump campaign came at no financial cost to the campaign itself. Responding to a post on X from a user who claimed that the Kamala Harris campaign paid $5 million for a performance by Megan Thee Stallion at a rally, Patrick clarified that her participation was entirely voluntary.
“All the events, rallies, interviews, social posts … I did for free. Actually spent a fair amount on wardrobe,” Patrick wrote. “But to be fair, I can’t twerk so … It all adds up.” Her comment added a touch of humor to the discussion, highlighting that her involvement was purely out of personal conviction rather than for monetary gain.

Patrick’s journey into politics was significant for another reason—it marked her first time voting in a presidential election. She described her experiences with the Trump campaign as “quite a ride,” reflecting on how her involvement in politics had been a natural progression. Speaking at the “Team Trump’s Women’s Tour” in Arizona shortly before the election, Patrick explained how she found herself drawn to politics and ultimately to Trump’s campaign.
“It’s really been this process that’s very natural,” Patrick said during the event. “I started learning more about the issues and understanding what was at stake. That led me to want to get involved and help spread the message.”
Patrick’s endorsement of Trump came at a time when several prominent athletes, both current and former, publicly voiced their support for the President-elect.
The list of Trump-supporting athletes included Brett Favre, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, former football star Herschel Walker, Olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner, and NFL player Nick Bosa.
They were joined by other notable sports figures, such as UFC president Dana White, Alabama senator and former football coach Tommy Tuberville, and former NFL player Antonio Brown.
In a social media post, Patrick explained why she felt compelled to vote for the first time in 2024. “I made a rule for myself that if I didn’t vote, I could not have an opinion about the outcome, because I didn’t earn that right,” Patrick wrote. “Not this time. I voted for Donald Trump, and I can’t wait to have him make America great again!”
Patrick went on to call her vote for Trump “the vote of reason,” and she expressed her belief that he was the “rational, reasonable choice” for the country. Her endorsement highlighted her confidence in Trump’s policies and her hope for the future of America under his leadership.
With Trump set to be inaugurated for his second term in January, the question remains whether Patrick will continue her political involvement in the coming years.
Her transition from racing legend to political advocate has certainly turned heads, and many are curious to see if she will take on an even larger role in the political sphere.
As Patrick reflects on her journey into politics, one thing is clear: her passion for speaking out and getting involved is far from over.
