Dan Hurley is on the brink of securing the head coaching role with the Los Angeles Lakers, but will his wife, Andrea, be on board with a move to the West Coast?
Andrea, originally from New Jersey, has played a significant role in Dan’s career decisions. When Dan was considered for the Kentucky Wildcats’ coaching position, he cited Andrea’s preference to stay close to New Jersey as a key reason for remaining at UConn.
“We just went to Rhode Island, which I had to drag her to, and then to Connecticut, I got her closer to New Jersey. I can’t afford a divorce right now, I just started making money,” Dan joked about his wife’s influence on his career moves in April.

The couple, who met at Seton Hall and both hail from New Jersey, have two sons; Andrew Hurley even walked on to play basketball at UConn under his father.
NBA enthusiasts are now pondering Andrea’s stance on relocating to Los Angeles.
“One fan pointed out, ‘Hurley’s decision might hinge on whether his wife is willing to move west. While she preferred staying closer to Jersey during the Kentucky discussion, LA is a different scenario. Plus, LeBron would likely appreciate Hurley’s impact not just on his own son’s development, but on the Lakers due to his understanding of culture and system,'” shared a fan.
Another fan speculated, “Hot take. Hurley isn’t leaving. He got AK back. He has a solid team. His wife doesn’t wanna move again. He’s a loyalty guy and is fielding offers like anyone would.”
Despite the potential challenges, the opportunity to coach the Lakers is highly coveted in the NBA. The combination of the lifestyle in Los Angeles and the financial benefits the Lakers offer could ultimately sway the Hurley family’s decision.
