According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Damian Lillard, the star point guard, has a strong desire to play for the Miami Heat.
In order to achieve this, Lillard’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, is reportedly discouraging other teams from pursuing a trade for his client.
Goodwin has been informing interested teams, excluding the Heat, that acquiring Lillard will result in an unhappy player.
“Dame’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, has been calling prospective trade partners & warning against trading for him, team executives told ESPN. Goodwin is telling organizations outside of Miami that trading for Lillard is trading for an unhappy player.” @wojespn https://t.co/3ZCqpRLT2W pic.twitter.com/5lGbeIH9pR

This tactic is commonly used to reduce offers from other teams, ultimately increasing the chances of a trade with the preferred team.
While the Portland Trail Blazers, Lillard’s current team, have been dissatisfied with the Heat’s offers, there is a possibility that a third team may need to be involved. Despite this, Lillard’s focus remains solely on joining the Miami Heat.
