Dalvin Cook, a four-time Pro Bowler and former star running back for the Minnesota Vikings, is currently the biggest name available in the free agent market.
Despite consistent and impressive production, with four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, Cook remains unsigned after being released by the Vikings over a month ago. During a youth football camp in Minnesota, Cook provided an update on his free agent decision, emphasizing the importance of taking his time and making the right decision for himself and his family.
“At this moment, it’s kinda just taking my time and being patient with the process. You can’t rush this. This is a life decision…I’m just taking my time and not rushing it. When I make that decision it’s going to be right for me and my family.”
Our @TheMattKennedy caught up w/ @dalvincook today as he was back in the Twin Cities hosting a football camp for kids.

Several teams, including the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets, have been linked to Cook, with the Bills having already drafted his younger brother, James, last year. Interestingly, the New England Patriots are considered favorites to sign Cook, even though they already have a 1,000-yard rusher in Rhamondre Stevenson on their roster.
The Bills and Dolphins, in particular, have struggled to find elite running back production in recent years, with the last 1,000-yard rushers for both teams being Jay Ajayi for Miami in 2016 and LeSean McCoy for Buffalo in 2017.
Despite a career-low 4.4 yards per carry last season, Cook still had an impressive year, finishing with 1,173 rushing yards (the second-best of his career), eight rushing touchdowns, and 39 receptions for 295 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
