It’s important to know when to shut up.
Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams apparently didn’t know when to do that.
Williams and guard Seth Curry were traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Hornets just before the NBA’s trade deadline on February 8. The Mavericks received forward PJ Washington in the trade.

Williams’ time with the Mavericks was brief as he was acquired in July of last year in a sign-and-trade agreement with the Boston Celtics.
According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, Williams reportedly quickly wore out his welcome with the Mavericks according due to his constant yapping and not reporting to the team in good shape.
“I would say one of the ways that Grant Williams rubbed people the wrong way, the yap, yap, yapping obviously that’s kind of part of it with him. Which it’s charmingly obnoxious if he’s productive and it’s grating when he’s not. But he didn’t report in good shape and Grant Williams not in good shape is not a good defender.”
It’s sure doesn’t sound like the Dallas Mavericks are going to miss Grant Williams all that much.
