Forbes recently released its list of the most valuable NFL franchises in anticipation of the 2023 season, with the Dallas Cowboys securing the top spot.
According to Mike Ozanian and Justin Teitelbaum of Forbes, the Dallas Cowboys claim the number one position with a staggering valuation of $9 billion.
Following closely behind are the New England Patriots at $7 billion and the Los Angeles Rams at $6.9 billion, while the New York Giants ($6.8 billion) and the Chicago Bears ($6.3 billion) complete the top five.
The Forbes report highlights that the average NFL team now boasts a record valuation of $5.1 billion, marking a significant 14 percent increase from the previous year.
This surge in value is attributed to enhanced television revenue and the noteworthy $6.05 billion sale of the Washington Commanders, a transaction that equated to 11 times the team’s revenue.
The sale was orchestrated by a consortium led by billionaire Josh Harris in July.
Bleacher Report noted that four teams experienced substantial spikes in their franchise values.
The Tennessee Titans witnessed a remarkable 26 percent increase, reaching a valuation of $4.4 billion, placing them 21st overall in terms of value.
The Las Vegas Raiders enjoyed a 22 percent boost, reaching a value of $6.2 billion and ranking sixth overall.
Similarly, the Miami Dolphins experienced a 24 percent surge in value, reaching $5.7 billion and securing the 11th position overall. Lastly, the Cleveland Browns saw a notable 20 percent rise in value, reaching $4.62 billion and ranking 19th overall.
According to Ozanian and Teitelbaum, the collective value of the entire NFL league now stands at a staggering $163 billion.
This figure is nearly equivalent to the combined valuations of the NBA and MLB, underscoring the NFL’s immense financial influence and stature in the world of professional sports.
