This NFL offseason has seen numerous blockbuster contract extensions across the league, but notably, the Dallas Cowboys have remained on the sidelines in that regard.
Critics, including Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, have called out Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, labeling him as “cheap” for the team’s delay in extending key players like quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and pass rusher Micah Parsons.
Florio didn’t mince words, expressing frustration with the Cowboys’ approach:
“When in the hell will the Cowboys gonna get their young star players taken care of? When are the Cowboys gonna wake up? When are they gonna stop being cheap, short-sighted, and not as smart as they think they are when it comes to dealing with their star players? It keeps blowing up in their faces!”

Despite their regular-season success, the Cowboys have often fallen short in the postseason, failing to capitalize on their potential. While Jones and the Cowboys’ front office have built a perennial contender, they’ve struggled to make significant strides in the playoffs.
It’s possible that Jones is taking a cautious approach, waiting to see if the team can finally break through in 2024 before committing to lucrative contract extensions for their young stars. Only time will tell if this strategy pays off for the Cowboys.
