NFC East rivalries run deep.
Dak Prescott’s brother has stirred up controversy with his blunt criticism of Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles, adding a familial twist to the age-old rivalry between the Dallas Cowboys and the Eagles.
Tad Prescott, keen on defending his brother Dak from the constant scrutiny that comes with playing for the Cowboys, made waves during an episode of “Paper Route” presented by I Am Athlete. When asked to rank his top quarterbacks in the league, Tad placed Dak second behind Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. However, he notably omitted Jalen Hurts from his list, referring to the 2022 All-Pro and MVP runner-up as a “running back.”
In response to inquiries about Hurts, Tad fired back with a sharp retort: “You said quarterbacks, not running backs.”

Hurts, who set an NFL record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with 15 during the 2023 season, faced criticism for his performance as a passer, particularly compared to his breakout season in 2022. Despite his impressive rushing feats, Hurts struggled with interceptions and missed opportunities in the air, contributing to the Eagles’ late-season woes.
The shade thrown by Prescott’s brother is sure to intensify the rivalry between the Cowboys and the Eagles, especially with two scheduled meetings between the teams in 2024.
During the 2023 season, Hurts showcased dual-threat abilities, amassing 3,858 passing yards and completing 65.4% of his throws, with 23 touchdown passes. However, his 15 interceptions proved costly for the Eagles, who faltered down the stretch, losing five of six games heading into the playoffs before bowing out in the Wild Card round.
