Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has had an impressive performance throughout the 2023 season, and there are strong indications that the team is inclined to reward him significantly.
According to B/R’s Jordan Schultz on Thursday’s episode of Speak on FS1, Prescott and the Cowboys are “highly motivated” to finalize a contract extension that would position him among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

Schultz suggested that Prescott could potentially receive a deal worth “between $55 and $60 million,” resetting the quarterback market. Currently, Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow holds the title of the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history at $55 million per year, and Prescott appears poised to surpass that figure.
The report highlighted that Prescott, facing potential free agency after the 2024 season without an extension, possesses no-trade and no-tag clauses in his existing contract, providing him substantial leverage in negotiations.
As of Week 17, Prescott leads the league with 30 passing touchdowns and just seven interceptions, amassing 3,892 passing yards. Notably, he has demonstrated significant improvement in ball security compared to the previous season when he led the league with 15 interceptions.
While Prescott is a leading candidate for the MVP title, the Cowboys have faced recent challenges with consecutive losses to the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins. Despite the setbacks, Dallas holds a 10-5 record and is one game behind the Philadelphia Eagles for the top spot in the NFC East. Both teams have already secured playoff berths.
Prescott’s chances of securing a lucrative extension may be bolstered if he guides the Cowboys on a deep postseason run. The unique nature of the NFL, where one can experience consecutive losses and still anticipate a substantial pay raise.
