If Jeff Van Gundy on the move?
Since leaving ESPN last year, Jeff Van Gundy has been serving as a consultant for the Boston Celtics, but he might soon shift to a more significant position with a team in the Western Conference.
According to NBA reporter Marc Stein, the Los Angeles Clippers are keen on hiring Van Gundy as an assistant coach to work under Tyronn Lue. It is believed that the Clippers stand a “strong chance” of finalizing a deal with Van Gundy once the NBA Finals conclude.

Van Gundy boasts a rich background in NBA coaching, accumulating 430 career wins during his tenures as the head coach of the New York Knicks from 1996 to 2001 and the Houston Rockets from 2003 to 2007.
His coaching portfolio includes a balanced postseason record of 44-44 and a notable journey with the Knicks to the 1999 NBA Finals. Earlier in his career, he also worked as an assistant coach for the Knicks from 1989 to 1996.
Additionally, Van Gundy was considered for a head coaching position with an Eastern Conference team earlier this season. If he aspires to return to a head coaching role in the NBA after nearly two decades away, securing a prominent assistant coach position could serve as an ideal stepping stone.
This season, the Clippers recorded a 51-31 performance and were eliminated in the first playoff round by the Dallas Mavericks, a series impacted by Kawhi Leonard’s injury. Last month, the Clippers extended Tyronn Lue’s contract.
