An investigation looms over Cristiano Ronaldo following an incident during Al-Nassr’s triumph over Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League at Al-Shabab Club Stadium on Sunday.
As Ronaldo celebrated Al-Nassr’s 3-2 victory on the road, some fans initiated a “Messi” chant in reference to Ronaldo’s long-standing rival. In response, the Portuguese star smiled and gestured with his hand near his groin area while facing the stands, a move seemingly aimed at the heckling Al-Shabab supporters.
While Al-Nassr has refrained from commenting on the gesture, Saudi newspaper Asharq al-Awsat reported that the national football federation is launching an investigation into Ronaldo’s actions.

This isn’t the first instance of Ronaldo responding to taunting fans. He faced criticism for similar incidents involving Al-Hilal supporters earlier this month and in April 2023.
Ronaldo, who netted his 22nd goal of the Saudi league season on Sunday, joined Al-Nassr in 2022, securing a lucrative contract estimated at approximately $200 million per year.
