You do the crime, you’re going serve some time.
The Saudi Football Federation’s disciplinar1y and ethics committee announced on Thursday that Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for one match following an obscene gesture he made during Al-Nassr’s 3-2 victory over Al-Shabab.
Ronaldo’s gesture, captured on a fan’s camera and later circulated on social media, involved him repeatedly pumping his hand near his pelvis area, seemingly aimed at rival Al-Shabab supporters. The background chants of “Messi,” Ronaldo’s long-standing rival, further heightened the incident.
In addition to the suspension, Ronaldo will be fined 20,000 Saudi riyals ($5,333) payable to Al-Shabab and 10,000 Saudi riyals ($2,666) to the Saudi Football Federation.

The 39-year-old forward, who joined Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr in 2022, leads the league with 22 goals in 20 games this season. He had scored a first-half penalty against Al-Shabab prior to the incident.
This isn’t the first time Ronaldo has faced backlash for his on-field behavior in Saudi Arabia. In April last year, he made a similar gesture during a Saudi league game in response to fans taunting him with “Messi” chants.
Al-Nassr’s upcoming match is against Al-Hazm on Thursday.
