Luke Combs has reached his breaking point with the Carolina Panthers, particularly after the Brian Burns trade, prompting the country music star to voice his frustration towards the team.
“Panthers, WHAT ARE WE DOING?!?!?” exclaimed the 34-year-old in a direct message to the organization.
The absence of a first-round pick for McCaffrey a few years ago and now none for Burns has left Combs bewildered, leading him to question whether the team is intentionally dismantling itself.
In case you missed it, the New York Giants acquired the 2x Pro Bowl pass rusher on Monday, inking him to a massive $150 million contract. In return, the Panthers received only a 2nd and 5th-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, along with swapping 5th-rounders in ’24 and ’25—a less-than-ideal return for a premier player known for his ability to pressure the quarterback.
This trade debacle follows the Panthers’ decision almost two years ago to trade Christian McCaffrey, one of the NFL’s top running backs, to the 49ers—an action that has left Combs feeling exasperated.

Adding insult to injury, Panthers fans recently had to witness their former star running back compete in Super Bowl LVIII with another team in February.
While Combs typically refrains from commenting on such matters, the ongoing disappointment has become unbearable for him.
The Panthers, under the ownership of Wall Street entrepreneur David Tepper since 2018, have faced their share of challenges, including the firing of head coach Frank Reich before the completion of his first season and finishing with the worst record (2-15) in the NFL.
