NHL forward Corey Perry has faced termination of his contract with the Chicago Blackhawks amid rumors of an alleged affair with Connor Bedard’s mother.
Perry, denying the scenario, released a statement apologizing to the Blackhawks and revealed he has initiated discussions with mental health and substance abuse experts to address his struggles with alcohol.
The termination followed an alleged “alcohol-fueled incident” involving Blackhawks employees and sponsors. Perry’s contract was set to be terminated after clearing waivers. Signed to a one-year deal in the summer, Perry played 16 games, scoring four goals and assisting on five others.
He will now forever be associated with the rumors involving Bedard’s mother.
