Controversial sports media personality Jason Whitlock recently commended Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes for his decision not to endorse either Joe Biden or Donald Trump in the upcoming Presidential election.
Whitlock suggested that Mahomes may have grown weary of maintaining a facade and opted for authenticity, particularly in the wake of his vocal stance following the “George Floyd thing.”
During an interview with Time Magazine, Mahomes chose to primarily focus on his future and did not align himself with either political candidate.
“Patrick Mahomes has pivoted a little bit because I think for a little bit, he tried to go woke, the George Floyd thing, he got caught up in that, and the Colin Kaepernick thing. But he has now steered to a more authentic place,’ Whitlock said. “My name’s been in it, I ain’t in it, I’m good. I like this Patrick Mahomes.”
“There are athletes like Mahomes that are tried of living the lie and believing one thing but knowing I have to say something else,” Whitlock continued.
Mahomes said this in the interview
“I don’t want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain President,” Mahomes said to Time. “I want people to use their voice, whoever they believe in. I want them to do the research.”
The Kansas City Chiefs did not attend a celebration at the White House during President Trump’s tenure following their Super Bowl victory in 2020, citing concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, with President Biden now in office, the team visited the White House to commemorate their Super Bowl win from the previous year.
President Biden will also host the Chiefs for another celebration later this year to honor their latest Super Bowl victory.
