After sharing his side of the story in Netflix’s Untold documentary series, it seems Connor Stalions is about to step into a new role within the sports media world. During a recent episode of the Barstool College Football Show, Dan “Barstool Big Cat” Katz announced that the former Michigan staffer, who became infamous due to his involvement in the Wolverines’ sign-stealing scandal, is set to join Barstool Sports as an intern in the coming weeks.
“Connor Stalions, I think he’s going to have an internship here starting in November,” Katz revealed on Thursday night’s episode.
The announcement was met with excitement from the Barstool crew. “Oh, awesome,” Barstool founder Dave Portnoy responded, while co-host Kayce Smith followed up with, “Like, in the office?” Katz confirmed that Stalions had reached out about the internship, saying, “He was like, ‘Once the high school football season’s done, I have a couple of months before I figure out my next move if you want me to intern.’ I was like, ‘OK.'”

Although Stalions’ role may officially be an internship, Katz made it clear that the former Michigan staffer will be treated as more than just another intern. In fact, he plans to give Stalions his own office at Barstool’s Chicago headquarters. “I’m gonna black out one of the conference rooms and I’m gonna be like, ‘You can do whatever you want in here,’” Katz joked, much to the surprise of co-host Brandon Walker.
Portnoy chimed in, mentioning how Stalions could be useful in leveraging name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals to help Michigan secure a top-10 quarterback recruit, indicating that the ex-Michigan staffer could have a hand in more than just Barstool content.
Stalions’ connection with Barstool isn’t entirely new. The sports media brand quickly embraced him following his resignation from Michigan after the sign-stealing scandal, which cast a shadow over the Wolverines’ championship-winning season.
Despite the controversy, Stalions made multiple appearances in Barstool content, including a cameo in one of Portnoy’s infamous pizza reviews ahead of Michigan’s big win over Ohio State.
In the months since, Stalions has shifted more into the public eye. His most prominent appearance to date came during his participation in the Untold series, where he discussed the sign-stealing scandal, and where Portnoy himself made an appearance—albeit not without some complaints about being allegedly misquoted in the documentary.
Aside from his media ventures, Stalions has also stepped into the role of interim head coach for Mumford High School in Detroit. While his coaching career at the high school level has been rocky—the team currently holds a 1-5 record—his first win with the Mustangs came just this past Thursday. With the high school season winding down, Stalions appears to be exploring his career options, and his pre-existing relationship with Barstool seems to make it an ideal next step.
Although Stalions’ time at Michigan ended in controversy, his story is far from over. As he steps into the media world with Barstool Sports, fans can expect to see more of college football’s most infamous sign-stealer.
Whether he’s contributing to Barstool’s content or taking on behind-the-scenes roles, his next chapter will be closely watched. And who knows—he might just find himself as much a media personality as a coach in the future.
