Conor Stalions continues to make headlines these days, but this time it’s unrelated to his involvement in the Michigan sign-stealing scandal.
As reported by The Wall Street Journal, Stalions encountered a dispute with his neighbors in Ann Arbor.
Stalions purchased a home near Michigan’s campus in 2022, with a price tag of $485,000. Before long, his porch was apparently inundated with numerous old vacuum cleaners. Eventually, Stalions’ neighbors took legal action against him, accusing him of operating an appliance refurbishing business from his residence.
Stalions chose to represent himself in the Washtenaw County Trial Court, and his response to the lawsuit raised eyebrows.
“I suspect that whoever has chosen to sue me either 1. doesn’t like the fact that I am a veteran; or 2. is a Michigan State fan and knows I am a Michigan football coach and wants to draw my attention away,” Stalions wrote.
Last Friday, Stalions stepped down from his position at Michigan, expressing his desire not to be a distraction for the Wolverines.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to work with the incredible student athletes, coach Harbaugh and the other coaches that have been a part of the Michigan football family during my tenure,” Stalions said. “I do not want to be a distraction from what I hope to be a championship run for the team, and I will continue to cheer them on.”
It remains uncertain whether Stalions will secure another coaching position at the collegiate level, but the prospect appears challenging, given the circumstances.
