Fox Sports pundit Colin Cowherd addressed criticism of singer Taylor Swift’s presence in the NFL, suggesting that those bothered by it are “weird, lonely, insecure men.”
In a four-minute rant on his Fox Sports Radio show, Cowherd argued that the scrutiny says more about the critics than the global superstar.
He pointed out that a football telecast involves more than just the game, with significant airtime dedicated to commercials, coach cutaways, clips of fans, and reviews.
“There’s a lot of really weird, lonely, insecure men out there,” Cowherd said. “The fact that a pop star — the world’s biggest pop star — is dating a star tight end, who had one of his greatest games ever, and a network puts them on the air briefly, that it bothers you … what does that say about your life?”

Cowherd dismissed the notion that people only want to watch football, citing the popularity of commercials and the limited actual game time. He highlighted a New York Times report stating that Swift is typically shown onscreen for less than 25 seconds during broadcasts longer than three hours. Cowherd suggested that CBS’s promotion of Swift during NFL games is a strategic cross-promotion for the network’s upcoming events.
He also addressed conspiracy theories suggesting the NFL is rigging games for Swift’s boyfriend’s team and Swift to endorse President Biden’s reelection bid.
Cowherd concluded by asserting that the anger over Swift’s presence reflects more on the men bothered by it than on Swift herself.
