Colin Cowherd recently shared his thoughts on Tom Brady’s anticipated debut as an NFL broadcaster, predicting that Brady will be quite different from Tony Romo in the broadcast booth.
Speaking on Tuesday’s edition of “The Herd,” Cowherd explained that just as their styles differed on the field, so too will their approaches to broadcasting.
Cowherd reflected on Tony Romo’s style both as a quarterback and a broadcaster. “Tony was always a bit underrated as a quarterback. He was instinctual rather than meticulous, favoring a loose style that prioritized instinct over detailed preparation. That’s carried over into his broadcasting, where he’s known for taking risks, predicting plays, and sometimes making unexpected comments, all of which makes for a wildly entertaining broadcast,” he said, as reported by Awful Announcing.
In contrast, Cowherd expects Tom Brady to bring his well-known meticulousness and thoroughness from his playing days into his new role. “Tom was always detailed and thorough as a player, a real people pleaser. I think that’s exactly what you’ll get from him as a broadcaster. While Romo might take more risks and provide spontaneity, Brady will likely be more calculated and prepared,” Cowherd elaborated.

This perspective seems reasonable given Brady’s reputation. He is expected to diligently prepare for each game, though he may not offer the same level of unpredictability as Romo.
Brady will join Kevin Burkhardt in the booth for FOX, and anticipation is high among fans eager to see how he transitions into this new role. His first regular-season broadcasting gig will see him covering an exciting matchup between the Cleveland Browns and the Dallas Cowboys.
