Colby Covington, never one to shy away from controversy, has reignited his feud with NBA superstar LeBron James. The UFC welterweight has long been critical of the Los Angeles Lakers forward, previously hurling insults and even challenging him to an MMA fight. This time, Covington’s ire was sparked by a past tweet from James about attending parties hosted by music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Speaking to the media ahead of his UFC Tampa fight against Joaquin Buckley, Covington wasted no time targeting LeBron with a fiery tirade.
“I want to ask LeBron, what does he mean by ‘There’s no party like a Diddy party?’” Covington said, referencing an old tweet from the basketball star. “LeBron, how many Diddy parties have you actually been to? What’s going on there?”
The outspoken UFC fighter didn’t stop there, escalating his criticism.
“LeBron, you’re a f***ing scumbag, and I hope you get locked up in the same cell with Diddy,” he added, referencing the recent legal troubles faced by the hip-hop mogul.
A History of Bad Blood
This is far from the first time Covington has taken aim at LeBron. Over the years, the UFC contender has called James out for his political stances and high-profile activism, often accusing the basketball icon of being ungrateful for the opportunities America has afforded him.
“If you hate America so much and don’t like this country that gave you a billion dollars, leave it or come deal with me,” Covington ranted before his UFC 296 fight last December. “F*** you, LeBron James. You’re a coward, a spineless coward, and you’re a b****.”
Covington’s disdain for LeBron has been a recurring theme in his public appearances, making the NBA superstar one of his favorite verbal targets outside the octagon.

The Fight Ahead
While Covington continues his war of words with LeBron, his focus will soon turn to the octagon.
Set to fight for the first time in over a year, Covington will face ninth-ranked welterweight Joaquin Buckley at UFC Tampa on Saturday night. Covington, known for his polarizing persona and relentless fighting style, has his sights set on climbing back into title contention.
For now, however, his comments about LeBron and Diddy have stolen the spotlight, adding yet another chapter to his ongoing campaign of criticism against the four-time NBA champion.
Whether James will respond to Covington’s latest remarks remains to be seen, but the UFC fighter’s provocations continue to keep his name in headlines.
