During a live segment on Friday night’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten expressed his hope for a “Sad Beautiful Tragic” moment for Taylor Swift on Sunday night.
Broadcasting from outside Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y., Enten, donning Bills gear and holding a shovel, shared that, despite being a big Swiftie, he’s a bigger supporter of the Buffalo Bills. Enten mentioned that the Bills had previously beaten the Chiefs in Kansas City when Taylor Swift attended.
“While I do enjoy Taylor Swift’s music, as I know you do — we’re both Swifties at heart — I’m hoping she’s probably crying at the end of Sunday because that’ll mean my Buffalo Bills have won,” said Enten, expressing his allegiance.
Apologizing to Swifties, he explained that this is the one time he’s rooting against Taylor Swift, eliciting a response from Cooper, who found the sentiment somewhat harsh.
As Enten pointed out, the Chiefs faced a 20-17 defeat against the Bills on December 10 at Arrowhead Stadium, with Swift in attendance. Although Swift’s beau, Travis Kelce, had a solid performance, the Bills secured the victory, marking a turning point in Buffalo’s season.
The Bills’ subsequent five straight wins allowed them to clinch the AFC East title, impacting the dynamics of the AFC divisional round clash against the Chiefs on the road.
Notably, this game will be the first road playoff game in Patrick Mahomes’ career. The anticipated weather conditions in Orchard Park, with temperatures expected to reach a high of 24 degrees, might feel relatively mild compared to the sub-zero temperatures during the Chiefs’ previous postseason opener.
Despite facing challenging weather conditions, the Chiefs, led by Kelce and Mahomes, will strive to secure their third straight playoff victory against the Bills in a highly anticipated matchup.
