Much like the entire 49ers fanbase, George Kittle’s wife Claire was devastated after San Francisco lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs in a heartbreaking finish earlier this year.
In a dramatic climax to Super Bowl LVIII in February, the Chiefs dashed the 49ers’ hopes with Mecole Hardman Jr. scoring the game-winning touchdown in the final three seconds of overtime. While Kansas City celebrated a sensational victory, San Francisco was left crestfallen, their dreams of a first championship since 1994 snatched away at the last moment.
Netflix’s new sports docuseries, Receiver, captures the raw emotions from both sides following Hardman Jr.’s decisive touchdown. In the series, Claire Kittle is seen visibly upset in the crowd. Refusing to watch Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes celebrate their Super Bowl triumph, Claire is shown leaving her seat immediately, saying, “Ok, I’m leaving, I’m not watching this. Alright, I gotta go. I’m not watching this s**t. I’m walking.”
George Kittle, too, is seen looking on in despair after his team’s gut-wrenching defeat on the grandest stage in football.
The docuseries also provides a glimpse into the lead-up to the game, showing Kittle and rival player Travis Kelce discussing the significant expenses they incurred to get their families to Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Kelce, who has been dating pop megastar Taylor Swift for the past year, revealed that her suite at the stadium cost an eye-watering $3 million. Kittle, however, decided against spending such a sum on a private box, joking that his family would be fine sitting in the stands.
George Kittle first met his wife Claire at the University of Iowa in 2012. They got engaged six years later and tied the knot in 2019. The couple held a larger ceremony with more friends and family in Nashville two years after their initial wedding.
The new docuseries not only highlights the highs and lows of professional football but also provides an intimate look at the personal lives of the players and their families, showcasing their shared moments of joy and heartbreak.
