The Kansas City Police Department is gearing up for the upcoming Super Bowl victory parade for the Chiefs, but they’re also bracing for the potential impact of a particular fanbase: the Swifties.
Ahead of Wednesday’s parade, the City Manager of Kansas City hinted that he had already informed Taylor Swift’s representatives about the city’s concerns regarding the potential traffic surge if the mega popstar chooses to join boyfriend Travis Kelce at the event.
“I can’t confirm or deny, but we may have already communicated that to her team to ensure everyone’s safety and streamline logistics,” Platt stated, as reported by KCUR.
With Swift’s Eras Tour resuming in Australia on Friday, there’s speculation that Swift might extend the celebration and attend the Chiefs’ parade, marking their third in five seasons.

Scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, the parade is expected to draw a massive crowd, with last year’s event attracting close to 1 million attendees, according to KCUR. The anticipation of Swift’s presence could further escalate the turnout, potentially prompting some fans to begin lining up as early as Tuesday.
However, managing such an influx of attendees, especially with the added excitement of a possible Swift appearance, presents logistical challenges, as Platt explained to KCUR. The city is prepared to handle the situation with extensive safety protocols and a significant law enforcement presence.
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas assured that the parade route will be well-monitored, with at least 600 police officers deployed alongside other law enforcement agencies and emergency medical services.
Last year’s Super Bowl parade incurred significant costs, including $200,400 in police overtime pay, as reported by KCUR, with 805 law enforcement personnel involved.
Even if Swift doesn’t make an appearance, she and Kelce have already celebrated in style following the Chiefs’ victory over the 49ers. The couple enjoyed festivities in Las Vegas, serenading each other with Swift’s hit “Love Story,” while Kelce’s brother Jason bonded with DJ Marshmello.
