Ed McCaffrey expressed heartfelt gratitude for his new daughter-in-law, Olivia Culpo, who captured a “solid gold” moment from her wedding to Ed’s son, Christian McCaffrey, the 49ers’ star running back.
In a heartfelt post shared Monday on X, Ed—himself a former NFL wide receiver with the Giants, 49ers, and Broncos—praised Culpo, 32, for filming his wife, Lisa McCaffrey, joyfully dancing at the wedding reception. “My daughter-in-law is already grabbing some SOLID GOLD CONTENT. Thank you Olivia for capturing Lisa in her natural habitat,” Ed wrote, alongside the video that Culpo had originally posted on TikTok.
Lisa, who shares four sons with Ed, also celebrated the joyous moment by posting the clip on her Instagram page, adding, “So happy! Can’t stop dancing. I love my DIL!”
Christian McCaffrey and Olivia Culpo, a former Miss Universe winner, tied the knot on June 29 in Culpo’s home state of Rhode Island.
The couple, who announced their engagement in April 2023, exchanged vows at the charming Watch Hill Chapel before hosting a lavish celebration at the luxury Ocean House resort. The wedding was attended by family, friends, and several of McCaffrey’s 49ers teammates.
Culpo shared her excitement on Instagram, posting a video of her stunning long-sleeved Dolce & Gabbana ball gown and writing, “Forever yours 6/29/24.”
In the aftermath of their nuptials, Culpo faced some criticism regarding her wedding dress. Fashion stylist Kennedy Bingham suggested in a lengthy video that Culpo’s dress had “no personality.” Christian McCaffrey promptly came to his wife’s defense, commenting on July 1, “What an evil thing to post online. I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, the way my beautiful wife does.”
Culpo explained her choice to Vogue, stating she wanted her wedding dress to be “as serious” as the “commitment” of marriage, and she did not want it to “exude sex in any way, shape, or form.”
As Christian McCaffrey prepares for his second full season with the 49ers, he does so with renewed joy and commitment in his personal life. The talented running back signed a two-year extension with the 49ers in June, following his trade from the Panthers in October 2022, after spending the first five-and-a-half seasons of his career with them.
The 49ers are eager to bounce back from their recent Super Bowl heartbreak, having lost 25-22 in overtime to the Chiefs in February. They will kick off their season by hosting the Jets on “Monday Night Football” on September 9.
