San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey revealed that he intervened to prevent his fiancée Olivia Culpo from purchasing a Super Bowl suite for their family.
Culpo had planned to surprise McCaffrey’s mother Lisa and the rest of their family with the suite, after Lisa mentioned on her podcast that they couldn’t afford one for Christian’s Super Bowl appearance on Sunday.
“She tried to, but I will not let anybody pay to watch me play. I had to nix that,” McCaffrey told Extra on Monday.

His comments came after Lisa admitted the family couldn’t afford a suite for the 49ers’ Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs.
“We looked into a suite and none of us can afford it,” Lisa had revealed on her ‘Your Mom’ podcast last Friday. “Not even Christian, money bags over there — nor money bags Olivia.”
However, former Miss Universe Culpo later revealed she was planning to surprise her fiancé’s mom for her birthday, commenting on a post of Lisa’s quote: “Fake News! Happy Birthday Lisa. I bought you a suite.”
It’s unclear which suite Culpo purchased, but prices range from $300,000 to $2.5 million.
McCaffrey is set to earn $11.8 million in 2024 and $12 million in 2025 as part of his contract with the 49ers, which he signed when he joined them from the Carolina Panthers in 2022.
The 27-year-old, believed to have earned $65,649,563 million solely from his football career, has been impressive in the playoffs and aims to continue posting big numbers come Sunday night.
During the regular season, McCaffrey amassed 1,459 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on 272 carries, along with 67 receptions for 564 yards and seven touchdowns. In the playoffs, he has recorded 188 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, and 11 catches for 72 yards.
