Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs, however, are handling the Taylor Swift era with professionalism, according to the team’s President, Mark Donovan, in an interview with PEOPLE.
Donovan, speaking at MetLife Stadium before the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the New York Jets, expressed that his team isn’t concerned about the media frenzy surrounding Kelce and the rumored relationship with Taylor Swift.
They do not anticipate it becoming a distraction for the team.
He praised Kelce as a smart team player and emphasized his professionalism in handling the situation. Donovan noted that Kelce remains focused on the right priorities and conducts himself in the right manner. He further stated that the Chiefs’ locker room possesses the maturity, leadership, and respect necessary to manage the situation effectively.
“Travis is a smart team player,” says Donovan of the Chiefs tight end. “He can handle it and has been very professional.”
Rather than seeing it as a distraction, Donovan views the increased attention on the Chiefs’ games as something positive and enjoyable for everyone involved.

He highlighted the surge in viewership when Swift attended her first game on September 24 at Arrowhead Stadium. According to FOX Sports, that game was the highest-rated telecast of the week across all networks, drawing 24.3 million viewers. It particularly captivated female viewers aged 12 to 49.
Donovan pointed out that having more young, female fans tuning into NFL games in the hope of catching a glimpse of Swift on the broadcast is a real benefit.
Regarding Kelce’s comments on his podcast about his personal life and the attention it has garnered, Donovan acknowledged the situation and expressed understanding. Kelce had mentioned that he intends to return his focus to NFL-related content on future podcast episodes, recognizing that he brought attention to himself by discussing his connection with Taylor Swift and expressing his desire to meet her.
For the owners of the Chiefs, there’s undoubtedly a reason to rejoice over the Taylor Swift craze; it has undoubtedly contributed to the increased value of the Chiefs franchise.
