Travis Kelce’s availability for Thursday night’s clash between the Chiefs and Lions has dominated NFL headlines in recent days.
Kelce experienced a hyperextended knee earlier this week, sparking concerns about his status. Fortunately, the results of his MRI revealed that his ACL remains intact.
Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt offered an update on Kelce’s situation during an appearance on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football.” Hunt stated that Kelce’s participation in the game would be determined just before kickoff.
“We’re hopeful that he’ll be ready to play tonight,” Hunt remarked. “It’s going to be a game-time decision, but Travis is a fierce competitor, so I wouldn’t bet against seeing him out on the field tonight.”
On a related note, ESPN reporter Ed Werder indicated that the prospects for Travis Kelce playing in Thursday night’s game don’t look particularly promising.
“Based on what I’ve been told, the chances of Chiefs TE Travis Kelce playing tonight against the Lions are not high, but there’s an expectation that he will make every effort to be on the field,” Werder disclosed. “This leaves the decision to Andy Reid, who recognizes Kelce’s critical role despite the long season ahead.”

Many argue that Kelce serves as the heart and soul of the Chiefs, and his absence would place additional pressure on other receivers to step up.
The Chiefs-Lions kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on NBC.
