After reports circulated online claiming that Wendy Taylor, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor, had passed away, she took to social media to set the record straight. In a video message, Wendy clarified that it was her son’s paternal grandmother who had passed away, not her.
The misunderstanding arose when reports surfaced, suggesting that Jawaan Taylor had informed reporters of his mother’s passing during a media session leading up to Sunday’s Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers.
However, Wendy’s video confirmed her continued presence and expressed condolences for the loss of the “matriarch of the family.”
Jawaan Taylor himself also clarified the situation through a social media post, confirming that it was indeed his grandmother who had passed away, not his mother.
Jawaan Taylor, who tragically lost his father in early 2022, signed a four-year, $80 million deal with the Chiefs last year. As he prepares for Sunday’s Super Bowl, he dedicates the game to his deceased grandmother, hoping to secure his first championship victory.
