During a press conference at a recent organized team activity (OTA), head coach Andy Reid was asked if the team was aware of Rice’s off-field problems at the time of drafting him. Reid responded, “We knew enough to draft him and then we just went with the process,” highlighting that the team conducts thorough reviews of players’ sports-related and physical backgrounds during the scouting process. However, Reid’s response left unanswered questions about whether the Chiefs were aware of Rice’s potential behavioral issues.

While his playing career may not be in jeopardy, he is likely facing a rocky path forward. He currently faces eight charges related to the traffic accident in Dallas, and NFL insiders anticipate a possible suspension ranging from four to eight games.
The Chiefs have preemptively added depth to their receiving corps by acquiring Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and rookie Xavier Worthy, suggesting preparations for Rice’s potential absence.
