A closed mouth doesn’t get fed.
After an impressive season with the Kansas City Chiefs, cornerback L’Jarius Sneed has a clear message for the team’s general manager, Brett Veach.
Sneed, who flourished under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, had a breakout year in his fourth NFL season, culminating in a second consecutive Super Bowl victory.
During the Thursday episode of Up & Adams, the Louisiana Tech product succinctly conveyed his message to Veach as his contract approaches its expiration this offseason.
“Pay me,” Sneed declared. “Pay me, pay me. That’s what I’ve got to say – pay me.”

Currently playing under a four-year, $3.9 million rookie deal after being drafted in the fourth round in 2020, Sneed is poised for a significant pay raise in his upcoming contract negotiations. Estimates place his potential next contract in the range of $15.5 million to $17.5 million.
Alternatively, Kansas City could opt to place Sneed on the franchise tag, which would keep him with the team for another year at a salary of $18.8 million, giving both sides more time to negotiate a multi-year deal.
In the 2023 season, Sneed amassed impressive stats, including 14 passes broken up, two interceptions, and 78 tackles, further solidifying his value to the Chiefs’ defense.
