Taylor Swift can apparently change a man.
Dave Merritt, the defensive backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, expressed how Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift had a positive impact on the team. Merritt noted that Swift’s presence brought a sense of happiness to Kelce, which in turn uplifted the team’s morale.
According to Merritt, Swift’s involvement with Kelce was viewed positively by the team, as it symbolized unity and acceptance. He emphasized that Swift was considered part of the Chiefs family due to her relationship with Kelce.
Merritt disclosed that Swift had been attending games discreetly before news of their relationship became public, indicating her genuine support for Kelce and the team.

“She actually affected the team in a positive way. It wasn’t a negative way. Everybody was excited and Travis was happy,” Merritt said of the singer on “The Sports Shop Podcast with Reese & K-Mac.”
“So when my player, a brother, is happy beside me, that helps me and that encourages me and so Travis came in there a different man. So, she helped us.”
In a light-hearted remark, Merritt joked about Swift “winning a Super Bowl” in her first year in the NFL, referencing the Chief’s recent Super Bowl victory.
Kelce and Swift began dating secretly, but their relationship became public in September 2023. Throughout the season, Swift attended Kelce’s games and supported him, including celebrating his victories on the field.
Kelce reciprocated by attending Swift’s concerts, demonstrating his support for her musical endeavors. Sources suggest that the couple is planning to take their relationship to the next level by getting engaged in the summer.
