Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones has hinted at ongoing contract negotiations with the team ahead of NFL free agency, as he approaches unrestricted free agency this offseason.
The 29-year-old stalwart, a three-time Super Bowl champion and cornerstone of the Chiefs’ defense since his 2016 draft selection, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday to share a snapshot of himself celebrating Super Bowl LVIII alongside head coach Andy Reid. Notably, the image revealed that Jones had been engaged in a phone call for an hour, suggesting potential discussions related to his future.
Accompanying the post was the cryptic caption ‘KC…….’, prompting speculation among fans about Jones’ intentions.

Responding to the enigmatic tweet, one user on X expressed confusion: ‘WHAT THIS MEAN.’ Another remarked on the lengthy phone call, suggesting, ‘1 hour phone? The deal is done.’
One user even called for Jones to be inducted into the troll Hall of Fame.
Last month, following Kansas City’s overtime victory against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, Jones made a bold declaration during the team’s Super Bowl parade, affirming his commitment to the Chiefs: ‘I need three of those rings, baby, we ain’t done yet. Kansas City, we will be back here next year. And for those who want Chris Jones gone, I ain’t going nowhere, baby!’
Hailing from Mississippi, Jones has solidified his status as one of the league’s premier defensive tackles, earning yet another first-team All-Pro selection in the recent season. He tallied impressive numbers, including 10.5 sacks, 30 tackles, and 29 quarterback hits across 20 games for Kansas City, including four playoff appearances.
