Simone Biles navigated a leg injury to achieve the highest all-around score through two qualifying subdivisions at the 2024 Summer Olympics, captivating viewers worldwide, including her husband, Jonathan Owens.
Owens, a safety for the Chicago Bears, watched his renowned wife begin her Olympic comeback early Sunday morning. He expressed his admiration for Biles’ performance through a series of enthusiastic posts on his Instagram Stories, as noted by the New York Post.
Owens cheered, “Let’s go!” as he watched Biles’ “flawless” routine in Paris. He later captioned a post with “No words” after witnessing her score an impressive 15.8 on the vault.
Although the 29-year-old Owens wasn’t present in the arena to support Biles in person, he will have the opportunity to watch her compete throughout the week. The Bears have excused him from training camp next week, allowing him to support the seven-time Olympic medalist.
“It’s amazing,” Owens said earlier this week, according to Alex Shapiro of NBC Sports Chicago. “Words can’t even describe it. I just think about, ‘How did I get so lucky that this is my wife and I get to see her, someone that’s literally at the pinnacle of their sport, and I get to call this my wife?’ It’s amazing. There’s no words to really describe it. Just blessed.”
Despite injuring her calf during floor warmups, the 27-year-old Biles still managed to finish more than three points ahead of her U.S. teammate Suni Lee, securing the top all-around score.
“I can’t express it,” said coach Cecile Landi, as reported by ESPN. “I’m really proud of her and what she’s been through and what she’s showing the world what she’s capable of doing.”
Biles’ determination and skill continue to inspire fans and fellow athletes alike, as she pushes through physical challenges to showcase her extraordinary talent on the world stage.
Her performance at the 2024 Summer Olympics is a testament to her resilience and dedication, earning her well-deserved praise and admiration from all corners of the globe.
