Like father, like son! Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, achieved a major milestone on the greens, hitting his very first hole-in-one during the second round of the 2024 PNC Championship in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday, Dec. 22. The memorable moment was made even more special as his dad was right by his side to celebrate.
The Unforgettable Shot
The incredible shot happened on the fourth hole, a par-3 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. Charlie, using a 7-iron, hit a flawless 176-foot shot that landed six feet from the hole before rolling directly into the cup.
While initially walking away from his swing, Charlie paused as cheers erupted from onlookers. Realizing his accomplishment, the young golfer smiled and shrugged modestly. Tiger, unable to contain his pride, walked over to his son, embraced him in a celebratory hug, and gave him a playful nudge on the course.
“It was a perfect 7-iron, so I just kind of hit it,” Charlie shared with the Golf Channel after his shot. “Down off the left, a little cut 7. It was awesome. I didn’t think it went in. I don’t believe anybody until I go up there and see it.”
Tiger’s Pride and Reaction
As a father and mentor, Tiger’s reaction was one of pure joy and pride. The moment underscored the bond he shares with Charlie, built not only on their shared love for golf but also on the countless hours spent practicing together.
“What a way to do it,” Charlie said afterward, still smiling alongside his sister, Sam. The shot marked Charlie’s first-ever hole-in-one, while Tiger has an impressive 20 hole-in-ones to his name, including three on the PGA Tour.

A Family Affair
The PNC Championship has become a family tradition for the Woods clan. This year, Tiger was joined not only by Charlie but also by his 17-year-old daughter, Sam, who served as his caddie during the tournament’s first round. Sam, known for her sharp wit and supportive nature, cheered her brother’s milestone alongside their dad.
Tiger has previously described his excitement at playing alongside Charlie. “I don’t think words can describe it,” he said after their first outing at the PNC Championship in 2020. “Just the fact that we were able to have this experience together, Charlie and I, it’s memories for a lifetime.”
Charlie’s Rise in Golf
Charlie has shown remarkable promise in his young golf career, following in his father’s footsteps. Earlier this year, he attempted to qualify for the U.S. Open and later made it into his first USGA tournament in June. While he’s still early in his journey, moments like these continue to hint at a bright future for the teen golfer.
Tiger has always emphasized that he’ll be proud of Charlie no matter what path he chooses, but the joy of sharing the game with his son is palpable. “Charlie clearly loves the times he spends with his dad on the golf course,” a source close to Woods told PEOPLE in 2020. “It’s a definite bonding activity for the two of them.”
Building a Legacy
Tiger shares both Charlie and Sam with his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, whom he married in 2004 and divorced in 2010. Over the years, Tiger has been vocal about how much he enjoys watching his children grow and find their passions.
“I just love being with them and seeing what they’re doing, what they’re capable of doing—the joys, the shifts of interest. It’s just fun. We have a great time together,” Tiger said about his kids in 2011.
The hole-in-one was yet another chapter in a growing legacy that Charlie is building for himself, but it’s also a testament to the bond he shares with his father.
Whether on the PGA Tour or in moments like these, the Woods family continues to inspire fans around the world.
