Charles Oakley finds himself embroiled in another public disagreement with the New York Knicks, this time concerning his potential return to Madison Square Garden.
Last Friday, Oakley informed Dan Gelston of The Associated Press that the Knicks had invited him to a playoff game at the arena alongside other team legends.
“I guess their lawyer contacted my lawyer, suggesting it’s a good time for me to come back to the Garden,” Oakley mentioned, as reported by ESPN. However, the Knicks dispute this claim.
A spokesperson for the team told the AP that no invitation had been extended, particularly as Oakley is still engaged in legal proceedings against the organization due to his February 2017 arrest following an incident with MSG security. Oakley, accused of unruly behavior after being requested to leave for alleged disruptive actions, denies the accusations.

Even if MSG were to welcome him back, Oakley stated he would not attend without an apology from team owner James Dolan.
“They need to apologize,” Oakley asserted. “Let’s see if Dolan can admit that mistakes happen, and that he made one.”
Oakley has recently updated his lawsuit against MSG and remains firm in his stance that he was treated unfairly, despite the dismissal of several other lawsuits. It appears unlikely that he will be seen at a Knicks game in the near future.
