A viral altercation unfolded after Sunday’s victory by the Washington Commanders over the Arizona Cardinals, pitting rival fanbases from the DMV region against each other. Despite the Commanders facing a West Coast team, an unexpected attendee at the game was a fan of the Baltimore Ravens, and this individual now faces charges stemming from the altercation in the stands.
Video footage captures a man sporting a Ray Lewis Ravens jersey receiving a blow from a Commanders fan wearing a poncho. The man in the Ravens jersey has been identified as Martino Ancora and was subsequently arrested by the Prince George’s County police.
He faces charges of trespassing, disorderly conduct, and second-degree assault. Despite the appearance that Ancora bore the brunt of the brawl, he was the one arrested. However, multiple sources indicate that his arrest is connected to events that transpired after the recorded altercation.
According to Ancora, he attended the game to support his girlfriend, a Commanders fan. He recounted, “A guy a row ahead of me… He started being disrespectful with his words, and as you can see on the video, he pushed me first. As he pushed me, I attempted to lean in, intending to push him back. However, before I could react, another individual from our row surged into the aisle and knocked all of us to the ground.”
In response to the incident, the Washington Commanders issued a statement emphasizing their commitment to the safety of both players and fans. The statement read, “The safety of our players and our fans is our highest priority. Our security team promptly intervened and removed individuals engaged in unsafe behavior. One fan required transport to the hospital and was subsequently arrested by Prince George’s County police. We continually remind fans, both before and during the game at FedEx Field, about the importance of appropriate behavior to ensure a positive experience for all our fans.”
