The Pittsburgh Steelers are actively seeking their next starting quarterback, prompting speculation about various available passers in the market. However, according to former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson, the Steelers’ future starter has already been determined.
During an appearance on the Nightcap podcast, Johnson claimed that he had insider information suggesting that Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson will sign with the Steelers this offseason.
“I’ve heard from a little birdie, and I mentioned this on previous shows, Russell Wilson is headed to the Steelers,” Johnson stated confidently.

While Wilson is currently under contract with the Broncos, it’s widely anticipated that he will be released before the start of free agency. Despite Denver owing him $30 million in signing bonuses, reports indicate that the team is willing to absorb an $86 million dead cap hit to part ways with him.
Although the Steelers have expressed confidence in quarterbacks Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett as potential options for the upcoming season, speculation about their next star quarterback continues to swirl. Alongside Wilson, names like Justin Fields, Kirk Cousins, and Jimmy Garoppolo have been thrown into the mix as potential fits for Pittsburgh.
Wilson, at 35 years old, boasts an impressive 115-72-1 record as a starter in the NFL. Last season, he posted a 7-8 record with the Broncos before being sidelined due to injury guarantees towards the end of the campaign.
