The Celtics owner blew a gasket.
A report from The Athletic sheds light on what may have sparked the Celtics to nearly come back down 3-0 to the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.
According to the report, Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck exploded in the locker room following the Game 3 blowout loss in Miami. He reportedly left everybody “stunned.” Here’s what sources had to say,
“His message [was] to the effect that he has been building this franchise for over 20 years and the players ‘need to play with some balls’ left the locker room stunned.”
The message worked. The Celtics would go on to take the next three games before falling to the Heat in Game 7.
Grousbeck certainly is not pleased with the end result nor are Boston sports fans. However, Grousbeck may have saved the Celtics from an embarrassing four-game sweep.
