Parting ways can be quite challenging, especially for twins.
Haley Cavinder, the Miami guard who, along with her twin sister Hanna, declared in April that they would step away from basketball, has made a new decision. She entered the transfer portal with plans to resume her basketball career during the 2024-25 season, as confirmed by Jeff Hoffman, the Cavinders’ agent from Everett Sports Marketing, to ESPN.
Haley Cavinder had an impressive season, earning second-team All-ACC honors and contributing to Miami’s first-ever Elite Eight appearance. She averaged 12.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Her return to the court is anticipated in about a year, and she will be evaluating her options, which may include remaining with Miami or exploring opportunities at other universities.
The Cavinder twins, known for their TikTok videos and prominent roles in the NIL movement in college sports, initially decided in April to forego their remaining seasons of eligibility in favor of WWE opportunities.
They had signed NIL agreements with the wrestling promotion in 2021, which, among other deals, helped them become top-earning college athletes in NIL. In the coming year, Haley will focus on training for WWE and their shared business ventures with Hanna.

Hanna Cavinder, who played a reserve role and averaged 3.8 points per game at Miami, has chosen not to pursue basketball alongside her sister. The twins, originally from Gilbert, Arizona, played together at Fresno State for three seasons before transferring to Miami.
Haley expressed her desire to return to basketball for a fifth season, but she did not wish to do so without Hanna, who was ready to move on to new pursuits. This decision primarily stems from financial considerations, as Haley can potentially earn more through NIL deals than in the world of professional wrestling.
