Carolina’s recent actions have plunged the organization into a state of turmoil.
The decision to trade up for the No. 1 overall pick in the draft and select Bryce Young, a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from Alabama, involved significant sacrifices, including parting with valuable draft picks and star wide receiver DJ Moore. The move was initially perceived as a step toward securing a franchise quarterback.

However, the situation quickly deteriorated for the Panthers. The firing of head coach Frank Reich last month marked the beginning of a turbulent period within the organization.
Reports from anonymous Panthers coaches, players, and staff members, as outlined by Joseph Person and Dianna Russini of The Athletic, describe a culture reminiscent of “The Hunger Games.” Allegedly, some coaches and staff members engaged in behind-the-scenes text exchanges with owner David Tepper, attempting to address concerns while Reich was still in charge.
An anonymous assistant coach stated, “People just finger-pointing hoping they don’t get exposed.” There are claims that general manager Scott Fitterer and an offensive coach discussed coaching strategies for rookie quarterback Bryce Young without involving Reich. Tepper’s encouragement for Reich to diversify his coaching staff may have contributed to evident issues this season.
Criticism has been directed at the team’s offensive performance, with a staffer remarking, “It’s just not a good offense.” Despite Reich’s success with the Indianapolis Colts, the Panthers chose to part ways with him after a disappointing 1-10 start. The 22-year-old quarterback, Bryce Young, has posted 2,055 yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 11 games this season, completing 60.6 percent of his passes.
The organization now faces challenges of instability and internal discord.
