Cameron Brink, the WNBA star, responded to fans who speculated that she was wearing a full face of makeup following her ACL surgery. The 22-year-old Los Angeles Sparks rookie posted photos and videos on Instagram, showing herself dressed in a hospital gown and hair net after the procedure.
“Chillin on the road to recovery ???thank you all for the well wishes:) I’m feeling extremely encouraged, supported & ready to make small strides every day. #delayednotdenied,” she captioned the post.
Despite most of her face being hidden behind a blue surgical mask, her eyelashes appeared notably long, and her lips had a rosy hue in another video. SportsCenter reposted Brink’s photos, leading basketball fans to wonder if she was wearing makeup for the operation.
“She doing makeup in the hospital bed?” one person asked in the comments section.
“Who wears makeup to get surgery?” another wondered.
However, many fans defended Brink’s “natural beauty.”
“Nah she just perfect,” one supporter commented, while another agreed, “I see a natural face.”
“She has no makeup on. She gets her eyebrows & lashes done which lasts for a while that’s all,” another netizen suggested.

To clear up the confusion, Brink took to her Instagram Story on Thursday, addressing the makeup rumors. “I love that ppl think I have a full face of makeup on ? ?,” she wrote, sharing a screenshot of the SportsCenter post. She explained that her striking eyes were likely due to eyelash extensions, and the red color on her lips was probably from the Ocean Spray cranberry juice she was sipping post-surgery.
Brink also posted a hilarious video of herself coming down from the anesthetics. “I woke up and I’m so chill,” she told her family, appearing sleepy-eyed and relaxed in the hospital bed. “I’ve been chillin’. I’m in another dimension. I’m just chillin’. You could sit me here all day and I’m just relaxing.” She mentioned looking forward to watching “Love Island” during her recovery.
The Skims model’s surgery came nearly two months after she tore her ACL in her left knee during a game against the Connecticut Sun in June, which ended her season early.
“You never think it will happen to you,” Brink wrote on Instagram on June 19. “And despite all the hard work sometimes it does. This is hard to fathom but I know it will only make me stronger. I will not be derailed and I will continue to love this life- I’m not defined by basketball, but it is something that I love deeply and I will work every day to get back to it.”
She concluded her heartfelt message by saying, “It’s not goodbye basketball it’s just a see you later. I’m always so thankful for your thoughts and prayers.”
A standout at Stanford University, Brink was the second pick in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks in April. Her journey of recovery is just beginning, but her spirit and determination shine as brightly as ever.
