Caleb Williams, recently selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Chicago Bears, has been marked for greatness from a young age, a sentiment his father, Carl Williams, has long held.
The former Heisman winner is set to become the cornerstone quarterback for a franchise in desperate need of leadership.
Caleb has not only been focused on football but has also consistently aimed to make his family proud—a goal he’s evidently been achieving for years. Carl shared a touching anecdote that highlights his son’s early dedication to the sport. In a video from the No Context Chicago Bears account on Twitter/X, Carl recalls setting up a new Mac laptop for Caleb when he was about 12 or 13 years old. While linking the laptop to Caleb’s phone, Carl inadvertently saw a text message pop up from a young girl asking Caleb to call her.
“It was late, about 10 o’clock at night, and he was supposed to be asleep,” Carl explained. “And there it was, the text popped up right on the screen.” The girl’s invitation was met with a mature response from young Caleb, who replied, “I can’t, I gotta train in the morning.” Carl admitted, “That actually brought a tear to my eyes.”

This discipline has been a key factor in Caleb’s ascent in football, positioning him where he is today. However, as he steps into the NFL, the need for such discipline will only intensify.
In Chicago, Williams finds himself in an ideal situation. Following the trade of Justin Fields, Caleb enters as the undisputed starting quarterback, surrounded by newly acquired top-tier offensive talent aimed at ensuring his success.
As the 2024 season approaches, all eyes will be on Caleb as he leads the Bears, now one of the league’s most watched teams, aiming to revitalize a storied franchise.
