Caitlin Clark finds herself in Cleveland, Ohio for the first time this week as Iowa gears up for the Women’s Final Four, and surprisingly, she’s thoroughly enjoying the experience.
While Cleveland may not typically top the list of tourist destinations, for Clark, it’s akin to discovering a hidden gem. During her media session on Thursday, Clark shared her positive impressions of the city.
“It’s been really cool. Last night, we visited the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which was super cool. I feel like you could spend about a week there and still find more to explore,” Clark remarked. “I’ve never been to Cleveland before, but it’s been awesome, honestly. It’s got that low-key vibe, somewhat reminiscent of my hometown, Des Moines, Iowa, just on a larger scale.”

Clark expressed excitement about playing in Cleveland, particularly noting the significance of LeBron James’s ties to the city as the starting point of his NBA career. “That’s just super cool,” she added.
While many may share Clark’s sentiments about her unexpected praise for Cleveland, it’s uncertain whether she’s merely being courteous about the Final Four’s host city or genuinely relishing her time there. Given her Des Moines roots, Clark’s positive perspective could stem from a sense of familiarity and appreciation for Midwestern charm.
If Clark holds such a favorable view of Cleveland, one can only imagine her reaction when she explores the rest of the country—a prospect that undoubtedly adds to the excitement surrounding her future adventures.
