The magnitude of Caitlin Clark’s brilliance even leaves those closest to her in awe.
Following the 22-year-old Iowa Hawkeyes’ standout performance, where she notched an astounding 41 points in Monday’s triumph over the LSU Tigers, Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, took to his Instagram story to honor her achievement.
Sharing ESPN’s graphic highlighting Clark’s stellar stats from the game – which included seven rebounds, nine successful three-point shots, and 12 assists – McCaffery expressed his admiration for her.
“Out of words for this 1,” McCaffery wrote in his story, tagging Clark while adding a yellow heart and a hand-heart emoji.

Clark’s record-setting display propelled her team to their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament’s Final Four, with the Hawkeyes eyeing the championship title. Notably, last year saw Iowa facing off against the LSU Tigers in the championship game, though they ultimately succumbed to the Angel Reese-led squad.
McCaffery, a former basketball player for the Iowa Hawkeyes, has been public about his relationship with Clark since August 2023.
As the leading scorer in NCAA history, Clark first shared photos of her and McCaffery together on Instagram, captioning the post “Best end to summer” as the couple enjoyed each other’s company on a boat.
During his tenure with the Hawkeyes, McCaffery garnered numerous accolades, including being named a five-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a three-time NABC Honors Court recipient, among others.
After obtaining bachelor’s degrees in political science and finance from the University of Iowa in May 2023, McCaffery secured a position with the NBA’s Indiana Pacers.
Interestingly, Clark is projected to be the top pick in this month’s WNBA Draft, potentially landing her with the Indiana Fever – not far from McCaffery’s workplace.
Currently serving as a team assistant for the Pacers in a versatile role, McCaffery detailed his responsibilities to the Des Moines Register, highlighting his willingness to contribute in various capacities.
In January, McCaffery penned a heartfelt tribute to Clark on her 22nd birthday – coincidentally matching her jersey number.
“Happy Birthday 22. Wish I was there to celebrate with you — you deserve the best day. Golden Bday/T Swift year will be the best yet,” he wrote.
“With all that you’ve already accomplished, there is so much more in store for you and your special self. I admire you in every way and I love you.”
On Friday, Clark and the Hawkeyes are set to face Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies in the national semifinals, marking another milestone in their remarkable journey.
